I was in the neighbourhood and looked up things to eat and new city had one do the better reviews. I must have been here a million years ago before my yelp days (10 years ago!) as a kid because the place felt familiar. I was so happily surprised with the food, services and prices though! We came on a Thursday afternoon and the place is constantly at 90 percent capacity, I can't even imagine what it'll be like on a weekend.

With a great parking spot that may be clouding my review, we got a booth seat immediately and the ladies there are quick to serve us but also patient because my mom and I were hmmi g and hawing at all the great choices. All the food was under 10 dollars with a drink included. My blackpepper pork chop rice even came with a soup! The food here is delicious, the soup for the Guilin noodle was one of the best broth ive had for this dish and we had to take a lot of it to go.

But, again, for an HK cafe, the service here is incredible. I cannot believe I have not come here more often in the past.

Great make of noodles. Yummy lemon ice tea. Not a place for large groups.

Went in with a friend for a cheap eat option. It took about 15 mins to get seated because they were very busy, but their turnover rate is very quick. It's a little hole-in-the-wall type of place.

Got seated and ordered the rice noodle with meats option (fish ball, squid ball, beef ball, beef tendon and brisket, some other ones I forgot) and a lemon iced tea. It literally took less than 5 minutes to get the food. Everything was hot and tasty. The iced tea was delicious and sweet. I would totally go back there.

Was passing through Toronto during a recent brief trip and went to New City on a whim. While I understand that Toronto locals may not think much of it or may have knowledge of better hole-in-the-wall茶餐廳 options in the area, the taste and texture of New Citys food sent me down a nostalgic rabbit hole remembering all the grimy 茶餐廳s where I would eat lunch at as a schoolkid in HK, almost all of which have since closed down. I had their lunchtime combo of a chicken steak on rice with black pepper sauce along with a milk tea. While the milk tea was a little bland, the black pepper sauce and the chicken steak were on point in terms of tasting like HK-style cooking. The wait staff was polite and attentive to me, perhaps because it was painfully obvious that I was not from the area and quasi-lost at the time.

Overall, New City has the HK 茶餐廳 feel and taste down well, and for personal reasons I found it to be a very warm experience. I will definitely be back next time I am in town.

Great Hong Kong Cafe, it's a quick sit and eat restaurant. Come here consistently, the food is good and good price point. It's usually packed during lunch and dinner time, so try and go a tad before the rush.

I have been going to this place for years! Quality has always been consistent and service is not bad for the value. The afternoon tea specials are a great deal and is from 2:30 to 6 pm, which is later than most cafes. I love the honey garlic wings with fries and the baked spaghetti with cheese. Most meals come with a drink, I would recommend their cold lemon tea. They also have English translations on their menus, which makes it easier for ordering. Great value and comfort food keeps me coming back!
